Generally we don't flame noobs when they start their own thread rather than hijacking someone elses which is on a totally different topic. We also tend to be nice to people that put some effort in.

You my good friend, seem to have done neither...

So.. I think you need to be getting yourself a spade, a tin hat and dig in fast.
IMHO my question is related to the thread - I too am thinking of starting up a new company and wanted some guidance on accountancy firms.

And could you please check the link you supplied - it doesn't seem to work for me.

    Thanks.

As northernladuk says, you will find a lot of accountant recommendations discussed here though I can't think of any impartial guide to accountants like you'd get from Which?. The PCG have a list of "PCG accredited accountants" which may be seen as a mark of quality but a number of people here also say that they just use a small local accountancy firm. It seems to be a bit of pot luck really, try one out and if they work for you then go for it.

There are a few accountants who regularly post useful information here, you could check them out too.

I ask this with some trepidation after poor John12345 another noob got flamed for asking a question for which there was already an answer, but I've checked and really can't see this anywhere, so here goes: has anyone created a sort of Which? Guide or comparethemarket.com on contractor or freelance accountancy firms? I.e. where it's possible to compare them for the services and charges levied for taking care of a small ltd company's paperwork ?

You can register a new company directly with Companies House via the government website BusinessLink

Incorporate your company online | Business Link

Costs £18 and takes up to 2 working days. In my case I found it was done by the morning of the first working day (I applied in the weekend). You get an Incorporation certificate and Memorandum of Association sent to you by PDF.

Have you searched the site? The answers are there. Part of contracting is being actively proactive and seeking not passively asking and waiting.
