This has been discussed on here before, Simon, from SJD is a chartered tax advisor but does not have an accountancy qualification. I think they employ accountants though.
There is no restriction on anyone calling themselves an accountant, so just because it says "accountant" on the tin, does not mean there is an accountant in the tin!

It's not like wanderer to be rude as he(she) is sickeningly tolerent and nice to so many posts that really don't deserve it but I am a bit bemused by this question and keep asking myself why you didn't do as suggested, or even ask SJD directly. I can't see how a bunch of strangers can advise you on the status of another company that you have to rely on in a process like this.Originally posted by Gibbon View PostAnd you my good sir clearly have too much time on your hands and are just plain rude.
So I guess WHS (wanderer) really

If the lender don't accept your assurances then just ask your accountant to phone your lender or your lender to phone the accountant and ask for the details they require. I really don't see what you are trying to achieve by posting your question on a discussion forum.

No need for that, the BS have seen that but it's not enough on it's own. I've emailed and had a satis reply since but at the time I was just trying to get a quick validated answer so I could proceed with my mortgage application.Originally posted by Wanderer View PostWell, looking at their website, they have a banner which says "Chartered Tax Advisors and Accountants" so WTF do you think?

It's for a mortgage application and apparently it makes a difference if they're chartered or not.Originally posted by *Clare* View PostA practice can be Chartered even if every person there isn't - they would still then be ruled by their governing body.
Is it that you want to know if they are regulated by the ICAEW or ACCA?
