A practice can be Chartered even if every person there isn't - they would still then be ruled by their governing body.

It's for a mortgage application and apparently it makes a difference if they're chartered or not.

Well, looking at their website, they have a banner which says "Chartered Tax Advisors and Accountants" so WTF do you think?

No need for that, the BS have seen that but it's not enough on it's own. I've emailed and had a satis reply since but at the time I was just trying to get a quick validated answer so I could proceed with my mortgage application.

I'm generally pretty tolerant of people asking dumb questions here but really, you take the biscuit on this one.

If the lender don't accept your assurances then just ask your accountant to phone your lender or your lender to phone the accountant and ask for the details they require. I really don't see what you are trying to achieve by posting your question on a discussion forum.

It's for a mortgage application and apparently it makes a difference if they're chartered or not.

They're registered with the Chartered Institute of Tax but not I think, with either the ICAEW or ACCA.
