I used them as my first accountancy and moved away. I felt like I was paying for their suits and their office in Baker Street. I didn't think they were any better than the others.

I believe that's par for the course with this kind of so called "contractor specialist". Big on promises. Short on delivery. I have been thinking of swapping from another of these outfits to Quay as Quay are far cheaper after a fairly big recent increase where I am now.Originally posted by UTCIAD View Postwe used them for our company for the 1st year. ended up having to change.
reasons were:
1) the accounting forms we had to fill in each month were time consuming. i might as well have done my own accounts by the time I'd filled in the information.
2) lack of pro-active advice.
3) some basic errors that I had to point out in their accounts (and i'm not an accountant)
4) constantly changing contact person.

That isn't too wide of the mark IMHO. I use them and I'm happy with them despite this.Originally posted by Just1morethen View PostImpersonal Sausage Factory service, I heard. Get a smaller personal firm.
When I have required out of the ordinary assistance with anything they have always been on the end of the phone and sorted me out (for no extra fee).
I will however go months/years without anything other than a monthly e-mail to them, so if you need handholding every step of the way they may not be for you.

I've recently signed up with them, and although there are some quiet periods now and again, they have dealt with a modestly complex "set-up" pretty well I think.
