Website is down for what my IT guy called "essential maintenance". The address is www.bcstax.com and it should be back up soon. There'll be a contractor-specific commentary on the budget which I am soon to start writing and I'm real excited about doing that

What about just the annual accounts? I do all the PAYE and VAT (incl y/e filing) and SA, just need my spreadsheet (or yours) turning into yearend accounts and filing with CoHse and Hector. What would you charge for that? PM is you like.

Please enlighten us as to what you were expecting?

I'm going to throw my toys out of the pram because I didn't bother to ask questions at the beginning or read the useful first timers guides on here and the web, because I thought running a limited company involved doing anything.

Who told you you could do this?

Did you speak to the accountants to explain your concerns or did you just carry on regardless knowing that you surely must be right?

People like you, and I'm sorry to be so harsh, do not have the necessary acumen to be legally in charge of a limited corporation.

Why is it that people like you expect it on a plate, moan when it doesn't go your way and yet have never spent a penny on basic research that any true businessman would have carried out.

Turns out the job wasnlt so permie as he is back contracting and seeking my assistance. That's no problem and I;m happy to take him on but he thinks that the 3 months at the start plus the 1 month at the end will cover his fees. It shouldn't but as I have a 100% satisfaction clause in my Fixed Price Agreement, then he can just claim he isn't satisfied and he won't need to pay. I expect that we'll meet in the middle and I'll get another 3 months out of him to cover it.

Its a pain in the ar*e have to do work below value but I recognise that its now a hugley competitive market and I need to differentiate my firm from, for example SJD, and the satisfaction clause is my way of doing this. Sometimes you need to suck it up and accept the fact that you can't achieve 100% projected profit from every client.

What do you charge? Monthly PAYE, EOY accounts, Personal Tax return. From SJD its about £1300 p.a. which I'm starting to think is pretty steep as they don't seem to be offering anything more than say, Nixon Williams (apart from the personal tax return); even with the personal return NW come in at about 900. How competitive are you?
