Is this a pimp, client, or specialist reference type company?

If you're that worried about them finding out about doing a non-IT course, then you might want to reconsider contracting.

What if they found out about you reading books? Or surfing the web?

I am going through a security check as well, but that is a different company that does it and they don't care about the gap. I had to provide them my address details.

So you reckon the company that does my reference check will find out about the course if i don't tell them? And no it was not anything dodgy

    Many thanks.
What sort of course would you not want them to find out about? - not at a madrasah in Pakistan was it?

I once took a wine appreciation course, I don't put that on my CV, but it wouldn't bother me if anyone found out about it.

I would think it very unlikely that anyone would ever find out unless you need to go through security clearance for the gig.

If they really wanted to I guess they could, but they're more likely to ask you than try and find out themselves.

By the way if it was "suicide bombing for beginners" I'd not mention that, say it was a cookery course and hope they don't ask for a reference..
