References - what can they find out?

    Hi all,

A company is going through my past work history, I have a small gap where I did a course outside of IT, I'd rather not let the company know, cause it was not IT related.

My question is, can they find out that I did that course?

    Many thanks.

Unless you're going for an interview at MI5/6 I doubt it

If they really wanted to I guess they could, but they're more likely to ask you than try and find out themselves.

By the way if it was "suicide bombing for beginners" I'd not mention that, say it was a cookery course and hope they don't ask for a reference..

What sort of course would you not want them to find out about? - not at a madrasah in Pakistan was it?

I once took a wine appreciation course, I don't put that on my CV, but it wouldn't bother me if anyone found out about it.

I would think it very unlikely that anyone would ever find out unless you need to go through security clearance for the gig.

Am intrigued now, so what was it?

If it was they obviously failed. I wonder how many resits you'd get

I changed it after you edited the post. The original entry did make me though.
