Best company for laziest people

My (limited) understanding is that since the MSC clampdown in the budget, you have show that you are managing your companies financial affairs and not your accountant. That is, you have to decide when and how much to pay yourself and the accountant cannot control the companies bank account or raise invoices on your behalf.

That is something along the line of what they said to me at JSA so perhaps nobody is doing it anymore, oh well as said before the additional benefit of the extra work outweighs not doing it if I have to.

I wonder if the accountant was the company secretary they could do it for you as I've heard some accountants will list themselves as the company secretary and register the company at there address.

I just use a spreadsheet to record everything going in/out of the accounts and expenses, mileage etc. I also use it to generate invoices as well. I then periodically send it to my accountant along with the reciepts etc.

A PA would be a nice idea but way to expensive as you already said, heh.

With JSA what I have to do at the minute is raise invoice which the number must match the remitance advice from my self billing agency. The next step is to record a reciept of the money coming in, just a repeat of the invoice it seems then I have to allocate this.

On the expenses I have to put it in everything including breaking down milage, alternatively on mileage I have to put it on a spreadsheet and say "see uploaded spreadsheet" the spreadsheet is alot easier because putting mileage every day and have to fill out a new record for each day is quite lengthy as you cant sort of go duplicate and change date. The system will then calculate how much I can pay myself and I've got to deal with this all myself.

THey went through the system with me and it was quite alot to take in, its an involved process that is open to my human error, what I would prefer to do is just post all my reciepts/copies of my remittance advice and a spreadsheet of mileage to someone and they enter it all in/pay me what I can take, do SJD do this?

I probably am taking the piss, but whilst I can pay someone else to do the work I dont want to do I fail to see your point.

So how will your MSC* (cos that's what they'll be if they manage you at this level of detail) know what to invoice for. You'll send then an excel file most likely. How much harder is it to print it in a template with your comany details on to a PDF file which you email to the client instead of your MSC as an invoice.

*IIRC this means PAYE (no divs) all the way.

SJD will not create and send the invoice out for you. You can always put an advert in your local paper for a PA. Probably cost you at least 16K p/a.
More money then sense.

If it bothers you that much, why not do it during the client's time, at least that way you're gettig paid for the 30 secs it takes to type 20 days x £700 into a fecking spreadsheet.

I'm with JSA to do my accountancy for my limited company, I thought I would have to do very little in terms of manageing the company as they would do pratically everything for me but it doesnt quite seem to be working out that way the system is a bit more complex than I would like and more work than I would like, this is what I want to pay someone else to do ;p

So I wondered, for the lazy people which is the best accountant? JSA tell me that they do as much as they can as a new law has prevented them from raising invoices on my behalf, etc but I hear SJD do a full service?


Other than this I've no gripes with JSA, like there service and there umbrella service was great but I am real lazy when it comes to paper work!

I'm with SJD and they're very good with a comprehensive service. However, I'm keen to learn about running a company and there is a certain about to do (15-ish minutes/month). Nixon Williams are also highly recommended here and I understand they do even more for you - e.g. you send in your receipts and they sort it out for you.
