It is not defined in law, it does not exist, it is merely NL-speak intended to identify and isolate a certain group of entirely legitimate companies for Gay Gordon's own mendacious purposes. If anyone offers to provide services to PSCs, tell them to bog off because you are not any such thing.

It smacks of being inside IR35 immediately, doesn't it, because it implies that we provide the services personally and can't offer a substitute and that we've incorporated for dodgy tax avoidance reasons.

I don't use this terms either as it's irrelevant.

What I don't understand though is why it is so easy to get contractors to dismiss illegitimate buzzwords from the 'business lexicon' of legal terms, but it is nigh impossible to get them to understand that EBs are not agencies and that the EBs are not there to offer jobs to contractors or find them a job and other such bollocks. Yet, we experience these false perceptions all the time. No doubt Freud or Fromm would be able to answer this one.

Don't go to Norla - use a proper accountant who'll charge you less.

Unless of course you don't want that kind of advice.

Set up your own Ltd, we'll be your accountants and charge you a lot of money.

Where as you could:

Use SJD etc, set up your own Ltd and be charged less money.

I've been speaking to some friends whom are using Norla Consulting
They are using the Norla Freestle option, which I've posted a description of below. I've searched the forums for info on Norla, but most of the information about them doesn't seem to pertain to this service they provide. Does anyone have any information about them? I'm new to contracting, and not entirely sure what to do. My friends whom are using this tell me they are receiving 84% of their money through this.

"Our Freestyle option is available to Contractors who earn at least £50,000 per annum or £220 per day.

This is not a composite or Managed Service Company scheme. You will be the director and shareholder of your own company. We simply act as your accountants and you outsource your bookkeeping and tax to us.

No associate of Norla will have any role as an officer of your company; we will merely perform as much of the administration as we can as your agents.

HMRC have confirmed that they are very happy for contractors to trade through a personal service company to be remunerated in dividends provided that they are outside IR35.

If you wish to explore the possibility of operating via your own Limited Company we can introduce you to Abbey Tax who will be happy to carry out an examination of your contract to determine if you are outside IR35. The fee for this review is included in our fee if you join our Norla Freestyle option."
