To be clear, I've got zero intention of claiming anything back from the NHS - I'd purely like to claim it from my Ltd Co as per a business expense.

Quick browse and it seems the trusts all have very similar policies. Not sure if there is a difference between signed up volunteers and anyone can help brigade though.

I did once ask my accountant about treatment of costs incurred as a result of doing something charitable.

He just advised me to put it through the company as a normal overhead.

Nice one - it might be that costs are minimal, but if I spend a whole weekend or something driving around town I could imagine rinsing through some food, fuel etc.

I've started to sign up to the NHS Volunteer Program thing - potentially to do some form of driving role. I'm considering that I may need to hire or borrow a car as mine started playing up but I've ignored it due to WFH. Even if not, I'm not sure what sort of mileage I'll be putting on.

Anyway, not a piss take post. If I do some of this stuff, can I consider it volunteering/charitable giving as an employee and claim costs?

No, I haven't asked my accountant and no I haven't Googled it because I've got another 4 - 5 hours of work left spinning up VPN solutions for government. And yes, I'm tetchy - just ask my wife.
