Sweet, it sounds like there wouldn't be much resistance. Think I'll go for the "beg for forgiveness later" approach.

Oh sorry. Here you go then.Originally posted by vwdan View PostTo be clear, I've got zero intention of claiming anything back from the NHS - I'd purely like to claim it from my Ltd Co as per a business expense.
Check if you need to pay tax on mileage payments as a volunteer driver - GOV.UK

Nice one - it might be that costs are minimal, but if I spend a whole weekend or something driving around town I could imagine rinsing through some food, fuel etc.Originally posted by ladymuck View PostI did once ask my accountant about treatment of costs incurred as a result of doing something charitable.
He just advised me to put it through the company as a normal overhead.

NHS Volunteering - Can I claim my costs back?
I've started to sign up to the NHS Volunteer Program thing - potentially to do some form of driving role. I'm considering that I may need to hire or borrow a car as mine started playing up but I've ignored it due to WFH. Even if not, I'm not sure what sort of mileage I'll be putting on.
Anyway, not a piss take post. If I do some of this stuff, can I consider it volunteering/charitable giving as an employee and claim costs?
No, I haven't asked my accountant and no I haven't Googled it because I've got another 4 - 5 hours of work left spinning up VPN solutions for government. And yes, I'm tetchy - just ask my wife.Last edited by vwdan; 24 March 2020, 18:13.Tags: None
