Not paid for final week

Hi All, I completed my final week's timesheet and got it approved, but don't seem to be able to get the actual money. Calling the agency I have heard ...

- we are being taken over and there may be some disruption
- you need to complete your timesheet again with Sundays date as last day of week not Fridays.
- our new system pays monthly not weekly, but we will pay you Friday.
- there's nothing for you on our system.

Questions: Where's the best place to name and shame? (rip off britain)?
Is there an employment agency watch dog?
What other avenues can I use to get paid for my last week on the contract?

Did they not pay any of the other weeks under contract where you put Friday as last day of the week!?!

I suspect this is a small agency trying it on. Do not accept their excuses, do as others have suggested and read up on late payment \ Dunning. Really grips my tulip when agencies try this tulip.

Btw Registered is better than recorded delivery as it arrives quicker and the postman knows they have to get a signature as it may contain something valuable. Sometimes they post recorded letters though the door or sign it themselves.

Good point. I meant registered but always call it recorded for absolutely no good reason at all.

I would do both: email a formal letter and send a copy by recorded delivery to the registered office and (if different) the billing address.

At the bottom of the letter/email, you state where cc copies have gone to (underneath the signature line). You may already know this, so sorry if I sound patronising! I'm making a wild assumption that everyone has forgotten how letters work

You aren't being patronising as I do both.

However many younger people have a tendency to email only then get stuck when an organisation lies to them about not receiving the email due to problems with their email servers.

The best is when you chase and the company says they didn't recieve your registered post letter but you can clearly read the name of who signed it. Then you can go "That's odd as Royal Mail Track and Trace says James Smith signed for it at your address."

You are better of sending a registered delivery letter to the agency's registered address. This is because companies can and do deny recieving emails there as Royal Mail and the Post Office are neutral third parties so even if companies deny recieving their letters they are not believed.

You must treat it as a formal business transaction so no more phone calls and informal emails.

Send a mail to the agency quoting this act and that you'll be charging 8% interest on all monies owed from xx date as per the legislation.

The fact you know what you are talking about and the thought of them losing more money tends to give them enough of a nudge to act.
