Should I look elsewhere and use a national accountant firm? Sorry for the newbie questions.

Whoever you choose, be careful with one that has wartime leaders and armour in the title. And don't choose them. My personal recommendation.

Moosecontract to accountant - Do you offer Freeagent?
Accountant - No
Moosecontract to accountant - OK thanks.
Rinse and repeat until answer = Yes we do.

In my experience, go for a specialist contractor accountant. The local accountant [lack of] knowledge has been astounding these last few weeks in respect of IR35.

Don't bother with a local guy. If you go for one of the Freeagent accountants mentioned in my recommendation thread in the sticky you'll never need to go see them. The tool is super intuitive so won't need to keep asking where you are in the year and you are in control of most of it. That cuts down the time spent by the accountant and so the cost. You also get an accountant that specializes in contractors as well so double bonus. Probably cheaper as well.

Although they are not ridiculous fees, they are most definitely on the high side. That said the £180 for registering for taxes is insulting!
I'm a little bias but get yourself a good FreeAgent accountant who deals with contractors.
