A simple search for freeagent would have helped.
I don't mind someone being a newbie but I do get irritated by them expecting to be spoon fed.

But I need to know what I need to be asking. End of the day an accountant will sell his services to me. As this is my first contracting roll I need to know what I should be looking for in accountant.
I've just been on to an accountant ....
He asked me to keep a spreadsheet of all costs like travel on there. ...
He's going to build me a payee , so I get a wage.
He'll deal with my quarter VAT.
He's asked me to keep all my expense receipts. Also to pay for my car petrol from my own personal account as my car is my own. However we we will deduct 0.45 per mile from expenses.
Contractor accountants specialise in clients who are similar to you. They go extra mile to review your contract for IR35, Provide with you a structure to maximise your return. Some of them use free agent software and some of them use their own version (for which everyone refers as portal in here). Wish you all the very best in your contracting role!

It would also be worthwhile procuring a computer with a UK keyboard so that you have a pound sign. In the finance sector having a keyboard that can cope with local currencies is seen as a benefit for some strange reason, as is working normal business hours for that country.
...unless, of course, you are making all this up and are based in Asia and want to waste the valuable time of some members on here by creating false information about your location, your job and your accountant.
