It seems to be from a reputed source and they say self-employed contracting is allowed when done at the same professional level.
Am I missing/misreading something here?
T1G was fine for contracting, now that's suspended indefinitely, there is no way of working in UK as a contractor or freelance unless on the YMS visa, which is two years and does not lead to ILR other than via the 10 year route, or T1E for which you need £200k and the creation of six British jobs for your enterprise.

I am thinking of registering myself as Self employed (sole trader) and work for 20 hours for self. My current employer is okay with this provided this doesn't hamper my current role.
I have looked up internet, public forums, gov.uk but still its not clear whether I am allowed to be self employed as second job in Tier 2
Any idea if this sounds possible ?
