Money hived off by a 3rd party agency isnt caught by IR35..just the money paid to the contracting company. If your own agency took a chunk (and Mr A. Contractor wasn't a director or employee of it) then that would be treated the same. Much as if Alegis put you through Hays..each takes a cut, before a payment is made to the contracting company...and i think it is only that payment that would be subject to deemed PAYE & NI.

Except for all the compliance activity and the new reporting requirements.Originally posted by brsltd View PostI was thinking it would help people concerned by income shifting (i.e. those not married/civil partnershipped) as the partner could run one independently and shave off a portion of the lolly.
It could also help with IR35 concerns, as the contracting Ltd company would have less revenue subject to challenge.
Would it help with those ?
(Any pimping of other bods, would be all gravy)

In the history of contracting do you think it possible that this hasn't occurred to anyone?Originally posted by brsltd View PostHas anyone considered setting up an agency as well as a Ltd co contracting firm, and making the latter avialable through the first ?

I know two people who did it.
The most recent one means, I hope, that he'll stop trying to be a hybird [sic] consultant and focus on that. Mind you, I made a lot of money following him round projects and cleaning up the mess.

Go out and get clients for your agency and set one up. If you intend to start an agency to handle one client (yourself) then you could just go direct to your own end client.Originally posted by brsltd View PostHas anyone considered setting up an agency as well as a Ltd co contracting firm, and making the latter avialable through the first ?
if you expect to gain other end clients and pimp out contractors other than yourself (like an agency !) then that is a whole different skill set to being an IT geek. Got much high level sales experience ?
