Company Accounts

Short of going up there with my incredibly bad temper ( I once turned over a desk in a local estate agents and then pinned one of them to a wall by his throat (ala Mordac style), theres not much I can do - and Im far to busy to chase up piss poor accountants.

No answer to request of asking for accounts/certificates back from new accountant or me.

Very common, I'm afraid. That happened with my old accountant - you wouldn't have left them in the first place if they were efficient, would you?

That's why I scan everything before I send it. I'm happy with my accountants but you never know, do you...?

If I was to write a review I would give them 1/10
4-5 Months to do a set of urgent accounts.
Taking 6-8+ weeks to do personal tax with prompting, then stating it would be sent the day after return, then not sending it. Then sending it sneakily after an email prompt weeks later, but do not answer email. Taking whole thing to 3months+
Not answering emails/phonecalls, rarely (now never) calling back.
Not answering email of complaint.
Not answering letters
Not chartered - can't do anything.
No answer to request of asking for accounts/certificates back from new accountant or me.

and this is the directors. Wholly very unprofessional and unfortunetly very true.

If the accountant is Highfield Strand, then yes and for them to ignore phonecalls/emails/letters.

If they have all the information (ie you send everything monthly) and they still doesn't prepare the annual stuff without prompting, then yes they are lazy and disorganised.

However, if you havn't sent them everything they need, then they're probably waiting for you to do so. True, some accountants will prompt and chase for the info they need, but others will expect a certain amount of "self help" from their clients to send the information themselves at the appropriate time.

Quick question for this newbie, is it normal practice for me to remind my accountant that the companies annual accounts are due or should he already be prepared, after all he set up my company, incoroprated it etc

No it's not normal. Sounds like they are both lazy and disorganised. Get the annual accounts out they way and change accountants. You might want to get the accounts looked at as well when you do.
