So .... what's the likelyhood of one of these working?

    £60 = micro brewery.

I'm looking for something else to do with my time - which involves avoiding tax or getting pissed (in this case both!).

It depends on how good their ingrediants are and how constant you can keep the temperature in the room the kit is stored in.

I've had soe nice beers from these micro brewery kits. I've also had some ******* disgusting beers from them.

I've been drinking my own for years ( quiet in the back, no sniggering! ) and one thing missing from this kit is a seperate fermenting bin. No, you dont have to have one but it works a lot better if you do.

Initial fermentation is done in the bin - basically a large white polyethyline dustbin. You then syphon off the young beer into the barrel for a second fermentation and allow it to mature. The longer you leave it the better it tastes too.

The really key thing to remeber is to clean *everything* very, very throughly. The thing that kills most homebrew and leaves you with sour beer is bacteria getting into it before the fermentation really starts and the achohol kills it.

Oh, and that kit is wildly over priced. Get down you your local home brew shop or branch of Wilkinsons for those up north and you'll get everything you need for about 25-30 quid. Boots used to do home brew gear as well, not sure if they still do though.
