In Dubai at the moment so can pick up a Hummer H3 for £15k and actually afford the fuel for it...however, I must return to the UK soon so not sure its that sensible an idea...
Currently liking the 350Z idea (support the midlife crisis and make up for the lack of chest hair), the Mazda 6 looks like a winner and if I combine the best bits of both I end up with a Mazda RX-8...
The Clio looks fun but I am not a 'Nicole'...the VX220 is a cool car in many ways but its just for people who can't afford a Lotus Exige...if I wanted a Vectra then I'd go back to being a permie (and a crap one at that)...and I already have a Touareg as the family car so no need for another 4 wheel drive...
So...short-list appears to be:
Nissan 350 Z - 3 years old
Mazda RX-8 - 2 years old
Mazda6 (Sporty one) - 1 year old
Or, do I save my cash and stick to my wannabe 3 year old C-Class for another year...
These are the options so vote away...I cannot decide so whatever the voting comes out at is what I am going to do!! You probably don't believe me but you are dealing with someone that tomorrow night is going to publicly toss a coin in order to decide whether or not I am going to accept a contract extension where I am currently at...decisions just aren't my strong point and I need to release my wicked side...
Vote away...Last edited by NewBoy; 24 May 2006, 07:46.Comment

350Z get my vote. Truly excellent muscular drivers car.
The RX-8 has a wanky engine that drinks fuel and oil and there are reports of strange starting problems if you flood the engine that takes days to sort out.Comment

Rotary engines are prone to flooding in the hands of the unenlightened. If you understand how such an engine works it will be obvious.Originally posted by DimPrawnThe RX-8 has a wanky engine that drinks fuel and oil and there are reports of strange starting problems if you flood the engine that takes days to sort out.
For those who need a clue: Think what happens during the cycle of a rotary engine, in particular what happens to the apex seal, and what happens to its environment if the engine floods.
If you still need more clues: Why does it solve the problem to warm the engine up a little? (Say by having a really big battery and cranking it a few times)
Once you understand the nature of the problem, then the problem ceases to exist.

It is a consideration though as occassionally my better half (yeah right!) will need to use it...
She has had an automatic for 12 months now and once a week the following phone call takes place:
'This bloody car won't start again?'
'Really?'
'Yes, really...I want a new one, I'm sick of this happening all the time, don't know why you made me get this boody thing'
'Are you sure you're doing everything right?'
'I've been driving for 13 years...so yes, I'm pretty damn sure I know how to start a car...and yes, before you ask, I do have petrol...so don't bother patronising me, just get out here and get it sorted...please'
'Have you got 'Park' selected'
Line goes dead...
So...RX-8...maybe not a good idea...Comment

Hmm, you've got one of them. Best replace it with a less whiny model.Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

I have one of those whiny models too.
Does yours have the inverse fault too, when she has told you something once you are expected to remember forever?I am not qualified to give the above advice!

It may be a whiny model...but I can't get rid of it...for the same reason that someone with an Alfa doesn't get rid of it just because it breaks down all the time...the fact is it is great to look at the ride is fantastic!Last edited by NewBoy; 24 May 2006, 12:34.Comment

If you really are having a midlife crisis forgot a car - what you need is a motorbike, perhaps a hayabusa or fireblade.Currently liking the 350Z idea (support the midlife crisis and make up for the lack of chest hair), the Mazda 6 looks like a winner and if I combine the best bits of both I end up with a Mazda RX-8...Comment
