When last seen, it had been carefully placed on one of the shelves behind the bar while they think of what to do with it - chuck it in the bin is my bet

When they use teeth to date the age of demise on Time Team etc. they generally slice a tooth in half to look at the dentine...
As one gets older, the tooth gets gradually more & more glass like...
