Having created this nifty lock thingie, I'm now struggling to think of the actual lock mechanism... I suppose I could ask the mechanical workshop chaps to fret me something up...

I can't remember much of the details of the original lock mechanism, which is not surprising considering it was 8 years ago...Comment

What I can remember is the truly surreal shape of cam that was finally necessary... the mechanical design left something to be desired.Comment

Originally, there was supposed to be a 3 spoked wheel thingie that pressed on a lever... unfortunately it stalled the motor...
So we cut off two of the spokes & it still stalled the motor.
The final shape of the cam was a mechanical engineer's nightmare.Comment

It was designed (by me) so that the point of contact with the lever gradually moved up the lever to minimise the stress on the gear train...Comment
