Don't know if any of you are ever up early enough to have listened to Alex Lester on Radio 2, but he once proposed to cut down on the "Hello.", "Hi, how are you?" "Fine thanks, and you?" "Fine thanks" conversation with:
"Standard Greeting."
"Standard Reply."
The same applies with "Would you like to go permie?" Standard Greeting. Standard Reply.
