Just been reading various reviews of "Earth Abides" by George R. Stewart.

An excellent book, and I would strongly recommend it.

Also been reading reviews of "The Postman" by David Brin.

Also an excellent book, from a different generation.

Whereas in "Earth Abides" civilisation dies, not with a bang, but with a whimper... from some dread disease...

In "The Postman" it's a post nuclear exchange world...

Interesting that David Brin doesn't reckon that Costner's take on the book in the film is all that bad.

All the reviews I've ever seen have been uniformly dire.

Probably not your thing but am busy reading 'The Big Nowhere' by James Ellroy. Right up my street that is. Excellent book.
