Can't find anything sensible about the earliest use of the valve stabilised power supply.
Someone asked about it yesterday & the earliest book I have is 1938... Handbook of Line Communications or somesuch...
The Valve PSU should come back. And the valves should be exposed in a 'PC-modders' style case on the front of Custom PC mag. On the other hand, the modern switching PSU should be exposed as the cheatin' charlatan it is - pretending its something is isn't, and having the cheek to do so many times a second.
When you encounter speed humps, sound your horn in protest.
