Right, I've now grabbed the source of the pages that caused parsing errors, and turned them into well-formed XML.
Yet again, many thanks to John Cowan and his remarkable TagSoup parser
Now to create an XSLT stylesheet that will extract the content and turn it into SQL INSERTS...
