I think they are spies or forward troops for your squirrel army.
One was on the back bedroom window sill earlier, just staring through the window.
I think the old lady who used to live here must have been feeding them

I thought they hibernated during the cold weather?

I was going to take a photo of it, but when I got back with the camera, it was bounding off down the lawn

I intended to fell the copse of trees at the bottom of the garden, because I intended to build a workshop there.

I now intend to move the workshop forward twenty feet and leave the squirrels trees standing.
