I'm mildly confused

When I came in just now (to the flat I mean, not TPD) my book was in the position on the couch where I sit - meaning I can't have left it there.

Unless it slid about three feet of its own accord, this would mean somebody had been here whilst I was out - but the only other person with keys is (or ought to be) the landlord.

And why on earth would they come in on a Sunday night, move my book yet not touch anything else, then leave?

I must have moved it myself and then forgotten about it - either that, or there was a small earthquake while I was out that moved it whilst leaving everything else in situ.

Ah well, another of life's mysteries

(I often wonder why that smiley is called "rolleyes" when its real name is obviously "Ho hum" )

They're very good to me at the late-night chippy

Tonight I was served by a new chap, and because it was late, most of the staff were out the back cleaning things up (they have a kitchen back there - it's not just a chippy with a couple of fryers out in front).

I assumed that, being unknown to said new chap, I'd just get what I paid for, but then a bloke came out from the back, waved at me and went over and had a word with the new chap. Bloke-from-out-the-back then gave me a thumbs-up before departing into the back again.

As a result, I now have tonight's supper and lunch before tomorrow's trip to London, all for the price of the half-portion I ordered
