Sounds like that's the one... a singularly daft way to die... I'm sure he'd have lived had someone done a heimlich or been brave enough to do the biro into the trachea thing...

They may have done: "It is believed attempts were made by staff and customers at the nightclub to revive the man."

Maybe he breathed in and sucked a load of dry cake crumbs down. They'd probably stick and then swell a little as they absorb moisture. That'd be tricky to fix.

Whatever the cause, I feel sorry for him, and sorry for anyone there at the time too.
