        But I regard renting as dead money, and have owned my own place since I left home. Last rental was my university accommodation in 1998.

        As a long term prospect, I think it's got to be a winner - if you can afford it, buy a family home now so that whatever happens you aren't going to want to move in the short term.

        Last move we did (before children) we moved into a five bedroom house, ready for the family. I don't want to move (unless I win the lottery), as I love the house, and whatever happens to the market, we're there for a long time now.
