I'm ill. major manflu in all its gross glory.
And today at the new house, I have ripped out the old bathroom, taken up the floor and joists in one of the reception rooms, hacked off the render and plaster in another room.
Now I am going to have a nice soak in a hot bath and then food and medicines.

It was to convert a file from one character set (EBCDIC probably, I forget) to ANSI. It read in 100 bytes at a time and 100 times did 128 compares and 128conversions and 100 concatenations and then wrote out a 100 byte record. There was some other sorts of mentalness too. It had some appalling run-time. Management liked it because it took ages to run so "it must have been full of meaty goodness".
I converted the main loop into 3 lines of code (READ, MOVE from one format field to another, WRITE). It ran so fast that management were convinced I had cheated.
I later discovered the original had been written by one of the directors...Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.

I spent a lot of money on a Caribbean cruise and saw nothing as impressive as the blood-coloured sunsets of Swansea Bay.
"Here, Evan. What's that bright thing up in the sky?"
"I don't know Evans. Might it be the moon, or could it be the sun?"
"I don't know either Evan. Look see, why not ask that man sitting on that bench?"
"Excuse me boyo, you see that bright thing in the sky? Would that be the moon or would that be the sun?"
The 3rd party said "Sorry, boys, I wouldn't know. I'm from Port Talbot, see."Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.
