Can't eat it in the office (no cutlery, for a start, never mind stinking the place out),

Many moons ago, when just a lowly Junior Programmer, we had a system to finish for a 9a.m. implementation. The boss asked us to stay until it was done.

At about 8 p.m. he went to the off licence for beers.

At about 10 p.m. he went out for take-away. He decided we had to have curry.

At about 4 a.m. we finished up. The boss made a point of distributing our curry detritus into a selection of waste paper bins around the offices.

"It's good for morale" he said. "They'll smell the curry all day and know you worked all night. They'll work harder and you lot can feel smug for weeks."

We then went home and the boss set off for the client site, tapes in hand.

That was 20 years ago and I still feel good about making the office reek - for about a week!
