Just had a rather cool thing happen at ClientCorp.

The open-source application framework on my development box had been playing up all day, and neither the guy who's been working on this project for a year, nor myself who's been on it for a week, could work out what was wrong.

Luckily ClientCorp has just flown the lead developer of said framework over from the States to give a talk tomorrow.

So he came to my desk and got it all sorted in a couple of minutes

Laptop already set up down there, just have to log out here and log in there.

I may be gone when you get back... time to leave this office and find some food, I think

          See ya later

A fine piece of posting it was too, sir.

I blame everyone who wasn't here on the old board for everything.

Did the same persona have to be on the old board ?

Whatever happens, those of us who were not here at the start can't win.

You get told off for banter in General (specifically), and told to take it to TPD. You post in TPD and then people moan that "TPD isn't as good as it used to be - there are too many people in there" (Yes, Xen and wendigo, I mean you!!).

So, what is one supposed to do? Those that want the board as it was, really should set their own up and not allow anyone else in. Things change and move on. The attraction of a forum is that people can join, post, discuss, etc. and this may not be in a style that you are used to, or even like. However, that is the nature of the internet, and fora in particular. I never used to post anything in General or Light Relief, purely because I didn't feel that it was exactly a welcoming environment. When I was banned, there were posts that suggested that things like chat, banter and discourse should be put in TPD - so when I came back, that's exactly what I did.

And now, that's not good enough, either. TPD isn't what it used to be. You're right, I for one will not disagree with that. There are more people here for a start. However, I certainly find it a friendlier and nicer place to post than anywhere else on CUK - so what if you can't read every post (and some manage it!)? I'd rather have some degree of friendship and discussion than silence here.

I would agree with you but you are a Newbie so I feel superior to you.

Seriously though, I think Milan was just trying to say that Churchill has contributed a lot to this site and that it would be a shame to see him banned permanently, and I agree. I'd also miss Milan, but that may say a lot about me.

Anyway, you're all a cunch of bunts except for those of you with fewer posts than me.
