Yup, I'm on a day rate, but I give them approximately the desired 37.5 hours a week, mainly because I might as well sit in the office of an evening, the hotel being miles out. As to whether they actually derive any benefit from my presence...
General midweek round is get to work around half nine, hour for lunch, stick around until about half eight, head to pub for something to eat, get late tube to hotel, crash out, rinse and repeat.
That leaves me with 7.5 hours to spread across Monday and Friday, and allows me to have a social life in the evening, rather than going slowly mad in a Premier Inn bedroom watching Men & Motors

Ah, as long as you're still billing 5 days. Phew.
That's pretty much what I do - arrive when BMI and the tube deign to get me here on Monday, and leave at 1 on a Friday. Put in extra hours in between and everyone's happy.
