My manager (he's a senior developer really) told me on Friday that I shouldn't expect to have to do much work between now and Christmas, and that if in fact I found myself doing anything much, I should let him know as it meant something was wrong

They pretty much stop changing anything early in December, as they don't want stuff breaking over Xmas and New Year when virtually nobody works, and many people take about a month off

Much of next week is an internal developers' conference anyway. The talk by the guy who invented PHP might be interesting...
