Finally log on here using a laptop and I post a thread in the wrong place."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Home!
About ninety minutes to get back, which constitutes a good run
I need to allow more time to defrost the car in the morning: ended up setting off about fifteen minutes late (partly also due to being rather disorganised getting out of the flat), which adds at least another quarter of an hour to the journey due to worse congestion at the other endComment

Took about half an hour to get that sorted out. Then I was able to log in to the Linux VM I actually work on. Downloaded PyCharm and installed it, pointed it at my work directory, pulled master from Git, and I was up and running
I was given a list of things to do, which was supposed to keep me occupied for the rest of the day, and I suspect part of tomorrow. With frequent time off to look at stuff on my phone and so on, not to mention the inevitable delays while trying to work out what code I'd not looked at for two months was doing, I managed to make it last to about two in the afternoon, then spent the rest of the day reading interesting stuff onlineComment

New gig started yesterday. Shocked to discover that, with a staff pass, the cost of HEX has increased from £8.75 to £9.20 for a return ticket.
I also have just come out with a cold am am spreading juicy germs around the office, so everyone will be ill just as I go on holiday.Comment

My experience last September was fairly similar, had 6 months break and returned to the same client.
Seems they allocated me old Windows account rather than the new one, most things just worked, or at least enough for me to get a serious head start before the access's were granted, gotta love Investment Banking
The added bonus was I had to "officialise" a lot of them by re-applying, even though I had the access, this prevents problems later on, I could then bitterly complain about the access processes been slow, whilst been able to work at the same time
