Brings back memories of the school PDP-8/e, Teletypes, and punched paper tape: Coding on tape - computer science A-level 1970s style - BBC News

If you were first in the computer room (happened a lot during holidays - we were allowed to go in and use it then, which was cool) then you had to enter the bootstrap code in binary (which you converted to from the octal in the listing printed in the manual, in your head) using the switches on the front

Afternoon nice, warm and sunny out.

Lots of people in Lycra cycling.

Why does Windows think that my wireless keyboard is a toaster?

More to the point, why does my toaster think it's a keyboard?

Though on that the switches are grouped into fours, making it easy to use hexadecimal; DEC used octal, so the switches are grouped (by colour) into threes

Also, the PDP-8 had 12-bit words rather than 8-bit bytes or 16-bit words.

Well there's the vac run over ZeitMater's house.

And a shedload of paper extracted from assorted places.

Paper rec is going to groan a bit this week.
