Well, that was unsuccessful.

Next had a seemingly suitable cheap jacket, but it looked terrible.
Austin Reed had a seemingly suitable very expensive jacket, but it looked pretty awful too.

I worked out many years ago that, no matter how smart the clothes I put on, I end up looking I slept in a bus shelter while wearing them within a couple of hours

FWIW I can never get trousers which fit properly. Short and fat used to be tricky, now I'm short and slightly less fat I can't find anything that stays up.

I have no idea what I look like in any clothes. Until a woman is around. Then I just hear whining.

The trick is to put them on as crumpled as possible, then you actually improve as the day goes on and the creases drop out.
