2. See photo above, taken from the fire escape. Upstairs neighbour's bathroom window is off to the right. Normally, her cats get out of there and on to that fire escape, which is next door, and go about their business. It seems this one decided yesterday to go straight on for a change, probably along the gutter, then climbed up from there when it got all the way to the back. Then for some reason it got spooked, and wouldn't come back. We suspect it slipped and almost fell, with the roof being damp from the fog, and became scared to go too far down that side. On the other side, it happily wandered up and down the corresponding ridge leading to the corner, but on this side - its only way back - that was as far as it would go

Looks like rain is forecast for later in the week when I'm driving to the south coast and back, though
