    I haven't investigated yet.

One genius suggested lithium AAA cells.

I wonder if they make 1.5V lithium AAA cells.

    They do indeed.

And they're twice as expensive in this country compared with septicLand.

Having recovered a bit (I'm getting much too old for this crap), it's back to the coalface folder ripping up face.

All this shifting of paper is getting a bit overwhelming.

Though I did find some hardware from 1979 just now.

I think it was a floppy controller card from some sort of ancient computer, certainly not ISA or Apple II.

It had a ceramic packaged NS1770 which at a guess is the floppy controller chip.
Correct: it was the one the BBC Micro moved to when the 8271 it originally used became scarce. Western Digital FD1770 (redirects to 1771, a later version I think).

I am now the proud possessor of a VersaFloppy(tm) S100 board from S.D. Computer Products (presumably Inc.) (c) 1978.

Plus the Z80 controller card and a Ram card.

Now where did I put that CP/M boot diskette (8" soft sectored, single sided)?

                      It's an INS17710-1.

                      As used in S100 Computers
