I need to see if it's possible to buy spare plates for it. There's nothing wrong with the old one except for the non-stick coating on the plates flaking. If new plates were available, I would have just got those, but Breville don't seem to supply parts for most of their older models

Toasties (aka Tostis) are very popular here which is great.

Though they have a strange habit of serving them with ketchup

Even I don't have ketchup with a ham toastie

I do like making them with tinned sardines-in-tomato-sauce occasionally, but that's not the same thing at all.

EDIT: yes, it's a Breville - in fact, it's a deep-fill one. Not that I fill my sandwiches that deeply, but I do tend to have the bread a bit thicker than the average sliced loaf.

But I don't think I'd use it in a new design.

Similarly, you can still get the Z80 in 40 pin dil but I don't think I'd use that in a new design either.

In fact the Z80 with all the peripherals included got made obsolete about 10 years ago.

I think it was the Z80 core with the uart and the pio all in one humungous 100 pin quad flat pack thing.

The one I misdesigned the footprint for by cocking up the metric to imperial conversion.

And only discovered it once I'd laid the board out.

Footprint was about 3/4 the size of the chip.
