One of my favourite throwaway lines from House of Cards (the original BBC one) is when journalist Mattie Storin goes to Francis Urquhart's house and he invites her in for an off-the-record conversation. His wife is introduced but excuses herself and goes upstairs; he turns to Mattie, explaining "My wife likes to listen to Wagner in the evening". It somehow conveys her character perfectly
