Lunch from Sainsbury's in the car, waiting for 2 when I can check in. Conference resumes at 2:10, so just time to do that and get back

And done
Bite of dinner from the Fryer's Delight round the corner, and once I've finished it'll nearly be time to head off across Bloomsbury to the Radio Stanshall showComment

I like the way Rick Wakeman quietly slipped on stage to play piano in one song (Nice and Tidy) that lasts about ninety seconds
No idea if he'll be backComment

Well, that has been one of the best days I've had in a long time
Boring V was, as always, excellent
And Radio Stanshall was, by any standard, an utterly glorious evening's entertainment
Mike Livesley's performance of Sir Henry at Rawlinson End fully deserves all the critical plaudits it has received. It's probably as close as we can get now to having Viv Stanshall doing it himself.
And the additional Bonzos material surrounding was wonderful, as you'd expect.
As I was leaving, I ran into John Halsey's wife, Elaine, who remembered me from the Castle Inn. She was heading backstage to find John, and brought him out to see me, so we did get the chance to catch up
They'd done a wonderful rendition of Rhinocratic Oaths, with Kevin Eldon doing the vocals. He had to read the stories (if you know the tune, you'll know that they aren't actually lyrics, but very short stories) from a script hidden in an old Beano album.
I told John that it was my favourite Bonzos song, and that I knew it by heart. He replied "I wish we'd known, we've been looking for someone who does."
And finally, I had a chance to catch up with somebody I've only ever known on Twitter over a pint in The Harp
All in all, not a bad dayComment
