I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens] -

Don't mind giving blood at all, but a few years (decades?) ago, they changed the finger prick test from a nurse manually poking a needle in, to a brutal staple gun like affair, which leaves the finger sore and bruised for days. My whole finger tip is slightly swollen today. Enough to discourage one from ever donating blood again.Comment

Did you make it yourself?
Am out to dinner tonight, have no idea where, hopefully somewhere good. Might take a break from blogging about me dinner this evening so I can actually enjoy it.Comment

Oh FFS. If you try to install a Ruby Gem (or, in my case, run a command that ultimately does so, through about three layers of nested tools), and Gem is configured (by some installer over which I have no control) to keep certain cache files on a network share mapped to a Windows drive letter, and you are running PowerShell as an administrator, the installation will fail, claiming that the shared drive doesn't exist (even though you can access it from the same shell).
Taken me until half one to find a Ruby forum post that gave me the clue: "Nevermind, I solved it. Seems I was running as an administrator."
Could have saved me a lot of time by SEOing those words, Ruby forum peopleComment
