Ventured into town, to pay in the cheque my brother gave me for Christmas (he's even worse at gift shopping than I am, it seems). Must be over twenty years since I've been in Nottingham City Centre.
As has happened every single time I've been there, I got totally lost in short order, wandered along occasionally taking a turning almost at random - then found the place I was looking for right in front of me, having walked hardly any further than if I'd known the way there
I'm also sure it was a part of the city I've never been to before either, so no long-buried memories to help me
Have you considered the home help that's available. They send someone round to cook & prepare meals (read microwave) and they stay for a chat, Your mum gets an amount from gvmt but she can spend it on the services she wants.
Yes, I think we're going to try and go down that road. Company called Bluebird seems to be the local provider. Not sure about it being paid for though - this is England, not Wales!

Make sure you keep an eye on them. We used to get home help in for my granddad before he went into a home.
Sometimes they'd turn up early, sometimes late. So some days they'd come round to help him get ready for bed at about 7pm, some days they'd turn up at the same time to make him tea. In the end, my dad ended up spending most of the day there anyway because you never knew when someone would be coming or going. Thankfully, he wasn't on any medication then or goodness knows whether he'd have got it or not.
As much of a wrench as it was (and we got social services to tell him that he couldn't go home on his own, even with home help) moving into the nursing home was the best move for him.
