Need to invest in a decent compact camera for food pics, Mr N has pointed me in the direction of a camera site being being Mr N they aint cheap

I could just use his Olympus pen lite but the zoom lens is huge which is ok for home use and I just need summat I can pocket when at a restaurant, but can deal with low res and bad lighting and has good autofocus

My Panasonic camera comes with a food [O] mode

Not used it for that though, it's just easier to use the old iPhone.

Taking pictures of food is incredibly difficult even with the correct kit, especially in dimly lit restaurants.

You will always struggle getting it lit correctly without an off camera flash

I know, I need to look up some food pic tips site for taking pics at home.

As for restaurant pics, people will have to do with whatever comes out, as it's a right 'ol PITA trying to take pics, eat and make notes.

I have noticed that staff tend to get twitchy as soon as you break out a notebook.

Thanks, I might give that a try, assuming I'm allowed it with my usual medication. Did you know that you can't have grapefruit (even juice) if you're on statins, as something in the fruit causes the body to absorb the drug too rapidly, or something? And people on warfarin can't drink cranberry juice for similar reasons. It's a minefield out there once the doctors have got their claws into you

And St. John's Wort buggers up lots of things especially antidepressants.

Well mrs 5* is in bed poorly. It seems to be norm for her to get ill over christmas. I just hope it doesnt go the way the past couple have gone - i.e paramedics coming out, morphine, ambulance, resus and another dose of pneumonia.

I'm off to the shops to get milk, bread and some gravy for the home made turkey, ham & leek pie.
