I spent £300 for basic equipment which includes buckets, mashing drum, boiler and sparging kit and 48 500ml swing top bottles - it's a little bit of faffing around as nothing is really "connected" so plenty use of clips and plastic tubing but should take about 6-7 hours from boiler switch-on to cooldown and primary ferment.

500ml bottle of homebrew beer costs around 30p. I never buy any more beer as my homebrew is much, much better than any commercially available bottled and most times proper keg beer.

I'm waiting to try my Torpedo beer tomorrow and see if it needs another week or two to condition in the bottle.

Now on a rolling boil with Goldings and Fuggles hops - can already taste the bitterness coming through!

Meant to add - in theory you should be able to payback capital after your fifth brew (assuming 23 litres/48 bottles).

I could probably brew every month or more frequent as people keep drinking my beer as it's so nice. Hardest part is asking for the swing top bottles back as they are around £1.50 each.

An unusually dense esteemed customer is having trouble with his bread board.

I do so hope he had no design input into the Orion.

We're now trying to get a capacitor reversed on a breadboard.

              Dear me.

It's not supposed to be as difficult as this, surely?

                      This is truly surreal.
