Well, it seems I'm one foot out of a contract. Looks like my current work is well and truly dead in the water, meaning I'll soon be commercially untenable for the consultancy (Which is fair enough, given they made me an 'offer I couldn't refuse' for a 2 month contract 8 months ago). Got a chat with the client on Friday, but I suspect I know which way things are going.
Kind of hoping I can hold off jumping into some long contract for long enough that I can involve myself in multiple projects or one big one, which is much more my cup of tea (And what I've been doing so far) rather than BAU type work.
Not looking for sympathy, it's just the only place I can really write it down! I could diversify and get involved with their other projects, but I'm keen to retain my specialist skillset and my 'expert' status, rather than risk it for short term reward.Comment

Think I might have to take a financial hit to "play nice" in the short term (I.e., I suspect the December project will be treated as ad hoc work - I could always refuse, of course, but it's not good PR) in the hopes I can build up a client base going forward.Comment

One washer winging its way westward.
(Actually two - there's an acrylic ring thingy that goes twixt tap and bath that may or may not be useful, but definitely spoils the alliteration.) Just hope the post office muppets don't decide that it needed a 'large letter' stamp...Comment
