Shopping done, meaning I don't have to venture outside for a few more days, except for takeaways and pubbing

Cleaned out the bread bin too. I'm partial to sesame seeded loaves, but numbers of seeds tend to end up at the bottom of the bread bin, where they clump together and go mouldy

As the bread bin is a metal box about a foot deep, and lives at the back of the counter, I can't actually see them most of the time, which means they have no effect. But I decided to have a look, which meant I had to either clean it or imagine I was dying of mould poisoning every time I had a sandwich in future

When ZeitMater went into hospital I forgot about the half loaf of bread in the bread bin.

By the time I remembered, some 3 weeks later, it was bright blue all over.

Must have been enough penicillium mould to cure the clap.

I've sometimes found the tail end of an old loaf at the bottom of the bread bin looking like that.

Fortunately I keep my bread in the freezer & nuke a slice or two when I need it.

Hence the bright blue half loaf.

I'm not sure it didn't kill the compost heap.

                    Anyway, it's time for bed.

Did some of my washing this evening.

                    Will do some more tomorrow.
