        It's too darn hot.

        Measured the temperature of the bench in the lab: 63 deg C.

        You could almost cook eggs on it.

              Aha!

              Sussed.

              There was an errant capacitor under the bit of A4 I'm using as an insulator.

              It was shorting sommat out, depending on where you touched the plate.
