I hate to be a patronising git, but if you stop going off to Brugge for expensive weekends you can build up a warchest and go contracting again.

Only a few months though in the BV, which is what counts, otherwise I lose the 30% ruling, if I cannot find work within a few months of finishing the current gig then I lose the tax benefits which is not good.

You could try invoicing yourself from the BV. Worth a try. OK, you'd lose a bit in tax but if it's only for a couple of months to tide yourself over.
