That's what it was last night - I thought I was dreaming, but the tesla coil booby traps must have been activated.

Explains what I thought was snow outside this morning too...

That's the car dropped off. The question now is will it be ready by Saturday... last year the welder guy vanished off the face of the earth for a few days, causing much wailing and gnashing of teeth as I had to go to Bristol by train

Mine doesn't have a flashing spanner. I just wait for something to go bang/smoke to come out of somewhere unusual/a piece to come off and bounce along the road and then I know it's due for a trip to the vet. It may seem old-fashioned, but those are all reliable indications of a problem somewhere.

The most recent loud bang was a few weeks ago, after it had been sitting in the hotel car park all week. It backfired or something and blew a hole in one of the exhaust downpipes. It's been getting louder, with an ever-increasing variety of strange rattling noises, ever since; I'm pretty sure the trip to London and back this week would have brought it to the bits-dropping-off stage

Good of it to wait until MOT time, when it had to go in anyway, before breaking. I like a car that fits its maintenance requirements in with my schedule

My spanner kept telling me it was due to flash in 3000 miles and then overnight on Tuesday it decided it needed to flash 200 miles ago? What's all that about?? Don't trust those flashing spanners.

Blagging and winging it are the dark arts of a contractor - use the force.

The force must be strong in me then, did a presentation on a plan yesterday to our IT director even though I hadn't had time to read the plan or the presentation ... even managed to bluff answers to his questions which sounded reasonable!

No-one else is moving, so I can "work on my document" at the moment...
